Overcoming Adversity, One Hit at a Time
The last while has tested me in ways I didn’t see coming. A situation that should have been simple turned into something heavy, stressful, and honestly a bit frightening. But here’s the thing about adversity: it shows you who’s really in your corner.
Some of my friends didn’t just show up—they became family. They checked in, they supported me, and they reminded me that community is real. The car scene is full of characters, but it’s also full of people with big hearts who’ll stand beside you when things get rough.
This experience has also forced me to look at the world differently. It is hard to stay positive in a world with such a dark undertone sometimes. People can take advantage of kindness. People can mistake empathy for weakness. But the truth is the opposite:
Seeing the good in others is strength.
It means you haven’t let the world harden you. It means you’re trying to be the light instead of adding to the darkness.
This week pushed me harder than most. I’m coming up on two years sober, and I’ll be honest—this is the closest I’ve come to slipping. When your head is spinning, when the anxiety hits, when fear creeps in, old habits can suddenly feel like comfort. But I didn’t go back. I stayed the course. And I’m proud of that. It reminded me that growth isn’t clean or easy—it’s a fight you win one decision at a time.
And when someone does you wrong? You don’t let them own space in your head.
You learn.
You adjust.
You move forward.
You don’t hide. You don’t throw everything away. You grow—because that’s the part they can’t take from you.
Every setback is a chance to redefine yourself. To tighten up your circle. To sharpen your instincts. To turn something negative into something powerful.
Be OK Garage was built on the idea of resilience—drive cars, make friends, be ok. That isn’t just a slogan. It’s a reminder that even when things hit hard, community, passion, and purpose can carry you through.
Adversity doesn’t get the final say.
You do.
